About Tribevillage
Experience is useful. Judgement is better.
Tribevillage was founded on a simple belief: businesses that depend on software need experienced technology leadership long before they need a large technology organisation.
Modern businesses increasingly rely on software to run their operations, serve their customers, move money, manage information and compete. As that dependence grows, technology decisions become business decisions.
Our work is grounded in years of software engineering, systems integration, architecture and engineering leadership across complex environments, including financial services and other business-critical systems.
That experience has ranged from building and supporting business-critical systems to leading engineers, making architectural decisions, recruiting technical talent and helping teams navigate the realities of legacy technology. That experience shapes how we work today.
Most businesses don't need more technology. They need better decisions about the technology they already have - and the technology they actually need.
Direct, not outsourced
Tribevillage is deliberately independent and practitioner-led. You work directly with the person doing the thinking, not a sales process that hands you off to a delivery team.
The goal isn't to introduce technology for its own sake, prescribe a particular methodology, or create unnecessary work. It's to understand the problem, bring experienced judgement to it, and help you make a better decision.
Technology without the theatre
We're not interested in recommending technology because it's new, fashionable or technically interesting. We're interested in whether it solves the problem.
A good technical decision should make sense not only to the engineer building the system, but to the people operating it, supporting it and ultimately paying for it. That's why our approach considers technology, people, risk, cost, complexity and business objectives - together.
Engineering meets research
Tribevillage also sits at the intersection of software engineering and emerging technology. Our work and research explore how software engineers interact with artificial intelligence and how AI is changing the practice of software development.
This perspective informs our approach to helping engineering teams adopt AI thoughtfully - without losing the human judgement that good engineering requires.
Built for businesses that are becoming more complicated
Tribevillage is particularly interested in working with businesses at the point where their technology has become important enough that technical decisions have meaningful business consequences. That's often where an experienced outside perspective can make the greatest difference.
You don't necessarily need a bigger technology organisation. Sometimes you need someone experienced enough to ask the right questions.
Where Tribevillage is today
Tribevillage is in its early stages. We haven't published client case studies yet because we don't believe in inventing them - as genuine client work accumulates, with permission, we'll add it here.
Professional independence
Tribevillage respects the confidentiality of all current and former employers, clients and business partners. We do not disclose confidential information relating to their systems, clients, code, architecture, processes or operations.
Examples of experience described on this site are presented at a general level and do not imply access to or disclosure of confidential information, nor endorsement by any current or former employer.
